Stephanie Stecken - Office Manager / Administrative Assistant

Stephanie Stecken
I have lived in Groveland Township my whole life, with the exception of two short stints - one spent in Woodford County and the other in Peoria County (and I am not taking about jails!!)  Before coming to the Township, I worked for the Kroger Company from 1980 to 1993, ending my career with Kroger on June 4, 1993, and starting my career with the Township on June 7, 1993. I have two beautiful twin daughters, and we all enjoy horseback riding, fishing, and just about anything outdoors.

Dan McCormick - Supervisor

Dan McCormick
I have lived most of my adult life in Groveland Township, and I have had an interest in township government since the mid 70’s.  I believe township government is the most grassroots form of government because citizens do help make all of the major decisions.  My experiences in township government include terms as trustee, town clerk, and township supervisor.  As your supervisor, it is my responsibility to make sure that your tax dollars are spent wisely and that all township funds are responsibly handled.

My wife Rae Lyn and I have lived for the past decade and more in the Whispering Oaks area of Groveland.  She is a retired realtor, and I am a retired school administrator.  We have children and grandchildren who live in East Peoria and Groveland Township.  Besides being elected to township government, I also served a productive term on the East Peoria City Council.

Even though public service has lost some of its glamour, I believe good officials can make a difference in the way services are delivered to communities.  That is why I spend part of each weekday in the township office making sure that all of us remain committed to doing our best for you.

Jim McCool - Road Commissioner

Dave Risinger
I moved from Morton Township to Groveland Township in 2012 and bought a house located not far from the Township Office/Road District.  I had introduced myself to the “then” Road Commissioner of the Township to gain knowledge of how our roads and right-of-ways were taken care of  in this unincorporated area of Groveland Township. During our occasional conversations the outgoing Commissioner had mentioned that he was thinking of retiring. So having 38 years’ experience in Road and Bridge construction, I thought that this would be a great opportunity to serve the community. I expressed my thoughts and desires to the outgoing Road Commissioner, along with the Township Board.

When the time came the Board voted to appoint me to the position of Road Commissioner beginning Jan. 1, 2015. It is my goal to keep our streets and right-of-ways in all the unincorporated rural areas that are under Township maintenance, in the best shape for the most cost-effective way so that the taxpayers of Groveland Township get the most for their dollars..

Nick Gauwitz - Road Foreman

Nick Gauwitz
Hi, my name is Nick, and I have lived in Groveland Township since 1989. I came to work for the Township as a seasonal employee back in 1994 while working as a snow bird for IDOT. In 2003 I came on board full time, becoming the Road Department Foreman in 2007. When not working, my brother and I farm the family’s farm. I also enjoy fishing, Cub’s baseball, Bradley basketball, and hanging around with my three children.

Pamela Christianson - Town Clerk

Pam Christianson
I was born and raised in Peoria, but after I married my husband Dale in 1964, I became a Tazewell County resident. We have two sons and seven grandchildren: three grandsons and four granddaughters. Since 2010 we have added three great-granddaughters to the family tree. Being a bit of a late bloomer, I went back to school after my sons left home and received my BA in Liberal Arts and Science from Bradley University in 1996. Since then I have worked in “NIH Granted Research” as a research consultant and data collection specialist. At the present time I am semi-retired but - still wanting to be active - took on the position of Town Clerk in May 2012 to finish the term of the previous clerk. Like so many things in my life, I didn’t go out seeking a new venture; it seemed to find me. This being my first venture into Public Service, I am finding that this position is much more than recorder of the minutes of various meetings. It includes but is not limited to:
 - Preparing the monthly agenda
 - Recording the minutes of regular meetings/special meetings/hearings
 - County Clerk Filings
 - Public Notices
 - Key Official in charge of Township Elections

John Shallenberger
My name is John R. Shallenberger, and I was born and raised in Pekin, Illinois.  I married my wife Debbie in 1973 and bought a house in Creve Coeur, where we raised our two sons.  We are grandparents to one grandson and one granddaughter.  In 1999 I ran as a write-in candidate for Creve Coeur Village Board as a Trustee and won and served a four-year term.  I also serve on the Executive Board of UAW Local 974 and the Board of Directors for the UAW Senior Citizens High-Rise since 1996.  I was appointed to Trustee of Groveland Township in 2012 to fulfill Trustee Barb Hart's position after she passed away.  Barb was a friend of mine, and I felt honored to finish her term for her.  I always looked up to her when it came to being fiscally responsible for local government, Village of Creve Coeur and now in Groveland Township.
