GOD has been good. We are proud to annouce we have with the help of the community been able to start something that we have dreamed about for awhile now. We are proud to announce that we have officially opened the  "Bread of  life Community Food Bank.

Greetings from the Bread of Life Groveland Community Food Bank,

   We had a wonderful day at the food give-away Saturday. It began with a dozen volunteers arriving at 8:00 am to do the repackaging of some bulk foods and then moving on to prepack about 15 orders. When our doors opened at 10:00 we had an instant line of people. Within the first 25 minutes we had sent home orders of food to 22 households! Each one of these orders consists of 3 boxes and 2 bags full of groceries! This give-away ended up serving 100 people represented by 27 households! It was a joy to send so much food home with so many and we volunteers had a great time!

   We thank God for all the many things He has done to make this possible. The majority of our food is donated by Midwest Food Bank and then we buy food from Peoria Food Bank and the grocery store to be able to give food orders that are "well-rounded" and abundant.

   This month we are especially thankful to Groveland Township who has given a donation and provided a huge truck and driver for an unplanned visit to Midwest Food Bank. We are also tremendously grateful for those dozen volunteers, the Peoria Rescue Mission's donation of another used freezer, and some precious people who have stopped over with donations.

  We are still praying for and seeking a large capacity newer model refrigerator to meet the need for more fridge room and for carts to help our volunteers get the food to people's vehicles.

Sept. 19th, Oct. 17th, Nov. 14th and Dec. 12th of 2009. Our give away hours on those dates are from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
